Draft Minutes of the TNT meeting of the Committee held at the Colonial Office on Tuesday, 11th June, 1946.

Letters of apology for absence were received from Professor Hinton, Sir George Moss, Dr. Venn, Mr. N. L. Smith.

Dr. Channon and Mr. Burney were unable to be present.
Minutes of the meeting held on May 28th were approved, with an amendment to Paragraph 4(c) which it was agreed should read:
the Section on the Faculties of Science; Architecture and Engineering by Dr. Priestley.

2. Part I of the Draft Report was approved as amended, with the further amendment that paragraph 4, line 10 should read:
Partly with substantial American and other fore ign assistance. '

The Draft Preface of the Report was amended and approved.
(a) The Draft of Part II of the Report was considered
paragraph by paragraph and amendments were approved.
(b) Mr. Walter Adams undertook to embody the amendments in
a new draft of Part II.
It was agreed that the new drafts of Parts III, IV and V of the Report should be circulated to members at an early date.
6. It was agreed that Part IV of the Report should embody proposals for the endowment of seven "basic" professorships (in English, Chinese Language and Literaturę, Mathematics, Social Science, Chemistry, Physics and Physiology) by His Majesty's Government.

It was agreed that after the amendment and approval of drafts of Parts III, IV and V of the Report by the Committee, a sub-committes of the Chairman, Professor Penson, Mr. Walter Adams and Mr. Sloss should review the Report as a whole. The reafter the Report should be sent to members of the Committee for comments in writing. A meeting for the signing of the Report would then
be held.

It was agreed that the next meeting of the Committee should be held in the Colonial Office at 10.0 a.m. on Tuesday, 18th June.
